Step 1 Free talk
Talk about different kinds of English learning activities.
说明:通过自由聊天方式,了解学生学习英语的各种活动。
Step 2 Do a questionnaire
Ask the students the following questions:
Do you often read English newspapers?
Do you often speak English in class?
Do you remember eight or ten words a day? Do you often watch English films?
Do you often listen to English radio programmes? Do you often listen to English songs?
Do you often talk to foreigners?
If they get 0~200, it means that they need to do better;
If they get 300~400, it means that they are doing well;
If they get 500~700, it means that they are excellent.
说明:通过学生感兴趣的问卷方式,可以调动学生的情绪,并积极引导学生形成科学有效的
学习方式。
Step 3 Make a survey
Ask the students what problems they have in learning English and how they solve the problems.
说明:进一步了解学生在学习英语中存在的问题及他们的解决方式,自然引入课文。
Step 4 Read and match the questions with the answers
Read through the passages and get the main idea, match the questions with the answers. While
reading, try to guess the meanings of the new words: forget, shy, wish, count, dislike, fun, article,
deep, breath.
说明:通过快速阅读及问答连线,让学生了解文章的主旨,同时培养学生的猜词能力。
Step 5 Fill in the form
Ask the students to read the passages more carefully and get more details. Say what advice the
writer gives for different problems.
说明: 让学生精读文章,说说语言专家针对各种问题提出哪些建议。通过这种有意义的说
的练习,不但加深了对文章的理解,而且突出了语言的交流功能。
Step 6 Read the passage again and complete the sentences.
Read the passage carefully and get correct information, then complete the sentences.
说明:通过完成句子练习,能让学生更好地理解课文。
Step 7 Learn vocabulary and answer the questions.
Work in pairs and answer the questions about the words and expressions in the box.
说明:在一定的语境中学习词汇,进行有意义的交流是词汇学习的上上策,培养学生词不离
句学语言的好习惯。
Step 8 Discussion
Read Helen’s question and complete Language Doctor’s answer. Then discuss in groups of four,
make a list of Language Doctor ’s advice for practicing speaking English.
说明:小组讨论可以集思广益,加深对课文的理解。
Step 9 English learning tips
Suppose you are Language Doctor, give readers some English learning tips. Have a competition
between boys and girls; see who can give more tips.
说明:通过男女学生的比赛,在欢快的气氛中总结了科学的学英语建议。

2. I want to have good teeth. Give me some advice with “You should/shouldn’t do sth”.
3. I want to be healthier. Give me some advice with “Why don’t you do sth ? / How
about doing sth?”.

1. Listen to the tape. Check the expressions of advice that you hear.

1. Look at the pictures together and decide what Jack usually does. Make a list.
