Where's Your Umbrella

Mr. Forgetful lived outside London but worked in an office which was in the centre of the city. So he had to go to work by bus. He had been able and clever and got a lot of money for their shop. So the manager was friendly to him. But once he was sent to another city on business. His car was hit by a truck and he was badly hurt. The doctor saved him but his memory was poor since then. And he often forgot something. Sometimes he went to the office on Sunday, but he stayed at home on a few Mondays. The manager knew him well and often forgave(原谅)him. So he could go on working there. Later he had to ask his wife to tell him the time, and he got to the office on time.

There was much rain in London one autumn. Mr. Forgetful had to bring an umbrella with him. Every morning, before he went to work, his wife told him not to leave it on the bus. And in the evening, she always asked him if he brought it back. But one day he lost it. He thought and thought and at last he remembered he had left it on the bus. His wife had to ask the conductors to help him to look for it. And several days later Mr. Forgetful left his office and got on a bus, the conductor returned his umbrella to him. He thanked him very much. As soon as he got home, he said to his wife happily, "Good news! My umbrella has been found!"

Mr. Forgetful had a look at his hands and saw nothing!
