I’m watching TV

I. Introduction

This is one of the lessons of Book II . In this class, they will learn a grammar item called the present progressive (结构式: Be + V-ing ).

They can learn the grammar item by looking, listening, talking and practicing to know how to use it in reality. And many activities have been designed for students to study and practice. Trying to connect knowledge to interesting and stimulating their enthusiasm to study in class is a very important thing for teachers to consider.

II. Teaching goal and key points.

1. The language Goal is to learn about what people are doing and the present progressive (结构式: Be + V-ing ), and besides master the structures of the present progressive, how to make good use of the present progressive in real life is also important. Through many different teaching steps and methods, make students realize that the present progressive is close to their studies and lives, they can use the language they learn to meet the need and wishes by using the new knowledge easily.

2. Teaching key points are training the abilities of using the present progressive to express their feelings in real language surroundings.

III. Ways of teaching and learning

Divide the whole class into six groups to train them how to cooperate with group members. One of the students answering questions correctly will win one or two points for their own group, using this way to make them know helping others are equal to help themselves, honors of collectivity are their honors. Dialogues, games and performances are designed for students to practice, in addition to these exercises, flash and songs, balls and photos are used in class activities to build a kind of strong study atmosphere

IV. Teaching Procedures:

Step1 Warming – up

A. Sing a song < My love>

Step 2 Lead in

1. Show some pictures to students and introduce the present progressive (结构式: Be + V-ing) to them

2. Look and say

Talking about pictures

3. Fill in the forms after listening, to make the Ss clear what

they are learning.

Invite a few students to do some actions in class, and then ask some questions to the other students,

T: What is he doing?

Ss: He is jumping.

Step 3 Presentation

Pair work, flash and conversations

To let the students guess what the people are doing in the picture.

Step 4 Practice

1. Lead in the general question of the present progressive

2. Invite two students to play football in the classroom,

then ask some questions to Ss,

3. Guessing the pictures to practice the general question.

Step 5 Description

1.Show a photo of Mr. Black, let them learn how to talk

about the photo.

2.Show a photo of two girls with the words to the others as an example.

3. With the help of projector, let them look at their baby photos.

Step 6 Group work

Show some sentence patterns for students to reference.

Everybody talks about one picture one by one.

(The students have performances in front of the classroom)

Teaching design is very important for a good lesson, yet the most important thing is how to organize teaching and make the students show great interesting in class. Giving students more opportunities and encouragement to make them believe they are the best.
