Social Constructionism：A View of Human Nature
and Its Psychological Significance

Abstract:As a main representative of postmodernism in the western modern psychology, instead of adopting exogenic or endogenic perspective, social constructionism argues that human nature is social and discursive construction and is relational existence. Its viewpoint of human nature has brought about a profound impact on psychological research, such as research target, methodology, mental origin, psychotherapy and its counseling. This paper points out that the appropriate attitude to face the impacts is tolerant and integrative, which will be conducive to advancement in psychology.
