dear, expensive, costly
这些形容词都表示物品价格“高的，昂贵的”之意。
dear : 侧重指要价过高，或远高于公道、合理的价格，其反义词是cheap。
Fruit is dear at this time of year.(一年中这个时候水果是很贵的。)
expensive : 指物品的价格超过了它本身所值，或超过了购买者的支付能力。
He flattered her with flowers and expensive gifts.(他用鲜花和昂贵的礼物讨好她。)
costly : 指物品价格高，通常是因物品稀少或珍贵所致。
The victory is costly.(这一胜利的代价很高。)
decorate, ornament
这两个动词均含“装饰”之意。
decorate : 普通用词，指对人或物进行装饰，使之更加完美。
My mother likes to decorate rooms.(我妈妈非常喜欢装饰房间。)
ornament : 指装饰以精美之物，使某处或某物增添美丽的或景色。
The flowers were put on the table for ornament.(花放在桌子上做装饰用。)
