第一节
1.
W: Tom, what’s your opinion about my lecture?
M: My view of the matter is that you are not convincing in…
W: Tom, to my knowledge, you slept rather well when the lecture was going on.
M: Oh, sorry, Ms Smith. I didn’t think you notice that.
2.
W: How was your dinner party?
M: I think it went pretty well. People really seemed to enjoy themselves.
W: That’s good.
M: Yeah, but we shouldn’t have invited Bob again. We can never get him to leave.
3.
W: Do you have to work hard in Canada?
M: Yes, if I don’t, I might lose my job.
W: So you only work hard to keep your job!
M: Oh. Heavens, no. I enjoy the challenge.
4.
W: Good morning. We are so happy to have you see the progress on the new building.
M: So am I, but do I have to wear this hardhat?
W: You do, it will protect you from any falling objects.
5.
M: Go really fast, Cindy.
W: I can’t. The speed limit is 30miles an hour.
M: What a pity! I love going fast.
W: How do you usually get to school?
M: We never go by car. We usually walk or go by bus.
第二节
6-7
M: Er, what about the next two days?
W: Let me see. Tomorrow at 8:30 am in the meeting room, meet managers from four departments. At lunch, host Mr. Turner from the MG company. Nothing special in the afternoon and evening. You can have a good rest.
M: Mmm, not bad.
W: But the day after tomorrow you’ll have a busy day. Visit the products exhibition in the morning, have a quick lunch, and attend your management classes from 1:30 to 5:00 o’clock. Don’t forget the party at the Century Palace at 6 o’clock. Your whole family is going.
M: What a day!
8-9
W: Hi, Bob. Haven’t seen you for weeks. What’s happened to you?
M: I have been in hospital.
W: Oh, sorry to hear that. But for what?
M: Er…I had a car accident two weeks ago.
W: Really? So you were injured and treated in the hospital?
M: Yes. But luckily, only my left arm was broken. And I can move it now.
W: Good. But how did it happen?
M: I was driving to work on Broad Street and crashed into a pole.
W: You drove too fast, I suppose.
M: Yes, and I regret it.
W: Remember the lesson. I hope you will return to work soon.
M: Thanks a lot.
10-12
W: May I come in, sir?
M: Yes please. You are Jane, I suppose?
W: Yes sir. I was told to see you at your office after class.
M: Oh, yes. Well, I was told that you had had some trouble attending your English class on time during the past few days. Can I help you in any way?
W: Uh…yes. I really hate to be late for classes, sir. But I have to deliver 20 bottles of milk to 20 houses every morning before I come to school since both my parents fell ill two months ago.
M: Oh, I am sorry to hear that. But don’t you have any other people to help you?
W: I’m afraid not. I am the only child in my family. I have to do something to help my family to pay for my school fees.
M: I see. I think we can do something to help you. What if I give you a scholarship?
W: It’s very kind of you, sir. It would be a great help to me.
M: Would you please tell me where you stand in your class?
W: I am always on the top 10% list sir.
M: That’s great. Everything will be OK, little girl. I will give a week’s time to stop your delivering milk.
W: Thanks a lot sir. I will not let you down.
13-16
M: Hi, what are you doing?
W: I am cleaning the house.
M: Can you go to the movies with me this afternoon?
W: I don’t think so. Right now I am sweeping the floor. Then I have to wash the floors and wash and iron all the clothes.
M: Aren’t your sister and your mother helping you?
W: No. They usually help, but today my sister is playing tennis and mother is writing.
M: That’s too bad. Asian Sun is playing at the theater. They say it’s good. And I want to go to that new Chinese restaurant.
W: Well, you could come over later this afternoon and watch TV with me.
M: I have a good idea. Why don’t I come over and help you with your work?
W: Would you?
M: Sure, why not? I will be over in half an hour.
17-20
Let children learn to judge their own work. A child learning to talk doesn’t learn by being corrected all the time; if corrected too much, he will stop talking. He notices a thousand times a day the difference between the language he uses and the language those around him use. Bit by bit, he makes the necessary changes to make his language like other people.
In the same way, child learn to do all the other things they learn without being taught — to talk, run, climb, whistle, ride a bike — compare their own performance with those of more skilled people, and slowly make the needed changes.
But in school, we never give a child a chance to find out his own mistakes for himself. We do it all for him. We act as if we thought that he would never notice a mistake unless it was pointed out to him, or correct it unless he was made to. Soon he becomes dependent on the teacher. Let him do it himself.

书面表达version:
Dear Editor,
I am Lily, a student from Class Two, Senior One. I am writing to draw your attention to some improper behavior among us students : littering and scribbling. It makes our school dirty and unpleasant, and does harm to the image of our school. I always feel ashamed whenever I see this. It is clearly not appropriate for a student to litter and scribble about. I wonder if the school could place more dustbins around and set up specific rules against such behavior. At the same time, students should be encouraged to develop good habits and better behave themselves. I believe that, with the joint efforts of both teachers and students, our school will become a more enjoyable place in the near future. I hope you will take my advice into consideration.
Best wishes for your good work and health!
Sincerely yours,
Lily
