M: Yes! I like it very much. And you.

W: Just a little. But I’m a jazz fan. I usually listen to a lot of good jazz on the radio. Do you listen to any jazz?

M: Sometimes, when I’m not working.

W: What are you studying here, anyway,Ali?

M: I’m doing a year at painting , and I’m also trying to leran some English in my spare time .

W: I know nothing about painting, but your English is excellent. You must have been very well taught.

M: You’re joking!

W：No, I’m not. There isn’t much we can teach you. You should visit lots of art museums in London.

M: Yes, I hope I can. The National Exhibition, the British Museum and many others.

W: Well, since you’re an art student, you don’t have to pay for an entrance ticket like the rest of us.

W: What can I do for you?

M: I’m here to crash a money order. Is this the right counter?

W: Yes, Do you have the notice of arrival from the post office?

M: Yeah. But actually, the money is for my friend. He’s now in the hospital and can’t come here himself.

W: In that case, if your friend has entrusted you to withdraw the money, you can do it for him. But both your friend’s and your identity papers are required.

M: All right. Here are the notice of arrival accordingly.

W: Can I fill out all the items in English?

M: Of course you can, but the name of the resident on the notice of arrival must accord with that on your friend’s identity paper.

W: Thank you very much.

M: You’re welcome.

W: This is Kate Morrison. You remember me, don’t you?

M: Of course I do. What's the matter? Has anything happened?

W: I don’t want to trouble you, but I’m worried. We’re going to have exams next month.

M: Oh, I see. Well, everybody worries about examinations.

W: But I may fail, and my parents may want me to go back to Canada. They may not send me any more money.

M: You won’t fail. You must believe in yourself because confidence is important to one’s success . And, of course, you may fail if you are worried about them and don’t work at all. You must begin working from now on.One of your teachers was talking to me about you. You can pass the examinations.

W: Are you sure?

M: Of course I am. If you worry, you may fail, so you mustn’t worry about them anymore.

W: You’ve helped me a lot . I feel more sure of myself now.

M: Juliet, what’re you going to do this evening?

W: I was thinking of going to a movie. Would you like to go? Maybe Nancy could come with us too.

M: Nancy? Do you really want to ask her?

W: Sure, wht not?

M: She talked unkindly about you.

W: What did she say?

M: Well, she was telling some of us that you can’t be trusted.

W: What?

M:She said she told you a secret, and now it is all over town.

W: I do remember her telling me something about… well about something… but she aked me never to tell anyone else, so I didn’t.

M: Nancy thinks you did. Some of us were talking in the classroom the other day and your name came up. Then Nancy said, “ Oh, that Betty. Don’t tell her anything. The next thing you know, it will be front- page news.”

W: Why didn’t she come and talk to me about it before saying something like that?

M: Maybe she was too disappointed with you.

W: Who’s upset now? How do you think I feel?

M: So about this movie--- do you still want to invite Nancy?

W: Nancy? Who is Nancy?

As I looked down at the river far below me, I realized why people like rock-climbing. My friend Matt and I had arrived at the Activity Center on Friday evening, and we were pleased to be out of the city and in the fresh air.

On Saturday morning we met the other ten members of our group. Cameron had come along with two friends, Kevin and Simon, while sisters Carole and Lynn had come with Amnada. We had come from various places and none of us was knew the area. We know we were going to spend the weekend outdoors, but none of us was sure exactly how. Half of us spent the morning on caving while the others went rock-climbing and then we changed at lunchtime. Matt and I went to the caves first. Climbing out was harder than going in, but after a good deal of climbing, we were out at last--- covered in mud but pleased and excited by what we had done.
