Here are different opinions given by people from different places on the Internet.

People Opinions

APNIC, Hangzhou (1) A better way to deal with relationships is to focus on study while in college and leave romance until after graduation. Dating surely will take a lot of time and energy which should be devoted to our subjects for us students. I don’t think guys who spend time and energy in love while in university can graduate with good grades.

Guangdong netizen

(2)All of us want love and a dream career. Can we get both? We certainly hope so, but reality is tough and competition is becoming fiercer. After all, we have to earn our bread first. We need to choose, and many of us wou ld choose a career ove r love. Nothing is wrong with that.

Netizen from the US (3)I am facing the same situation with my boyfriend. I immigrated to New York with my family, but he still works in China. I believe our relationship will never change, even though we are apart. As the saying goes: follow your heart.

Beijing netizen

(4)This is a decision many campus lovers have to make. Just remember: everyone has the right to pursue what he or she wants. Just let it be! Student couples should be more forgiving of each other. Let your lovers achieve their goals and live their own life as long as they are happy. Maybe this is true love[来源:学+科+网]

SunShiling, from Shanghai Normal University

(5)I enjoy chatting with my QQ and Renren.com friends so much that I often spend hours in front of the computer without noticing the time pass. I also love chatting with my good friends in real life. Honestly, I prefer the latter. To talk with a real person makes you laugh on occasion, and that’s a real treat. The humorous tones of your words make your listeners laugh, and their facial expressions tell you that they sincerely appreciate your viewpoint. Cyber pals characters and emoticons (由字符组成的图释) can never offer you this kind of satisfaction. When I read a line in the dialogue box, I wonder if it’s my cyber pal’s real thoughts, but face-to-face get-togethers set me at ease.

If you are a recent social science graduate who has had to listen to jokes about unemployment from your computer major classmates, you may have had the last laugh. There are many advantages for the social science major because this high-tech “Information Age” demands people who are flexible (灵活的) and who have good communication skills.

There are many social science majors in large companies who fill important positions. For example, a number of research studies found that social science majors had achieved greater managerial success than those who had technical training or pre-professional courses. Studies show that social science majors are most suited for change, which is the leading feature (特点) of the kind of high speed, high-pressure, high-tech world we now live in.

Social science majors are not only experiencing success in their long-term company jobs, but they are also finding jobs more easily. A study showed that many companies had filled a large percentage of their entry-level positions with social science graduates. The study also showed that the most sought-after quality in a person who was looking for a job was communication skills, noted as “very important” by 92 percent of the companies. Social science majors have these skills, often without knowing how important they are. It is probably due to these skills that they have been offered a wide variety of positions.
