I recently heard a story about a famous scientist, who was being interviewed by a reporter. The reporter asked him why he thought that he was able to be so much more 16 than the average person.
He said that it all came from a(n) 17 with his mother that occurred when he was about four years old. He had been trying to 18 a bottle of milk from the refrigerator, but he 19 it to the floor. Soon the kitchen floor became a sea of 20 ! When his mother found what had happened, instead of 21 at him or blaming him,she said,”Robert, what a great and 22 mess you have made! Now let’s use a sponge (海绵) to 23 it up.”
After that, his mother said,”Robert, you just 24 to carry a big milk bottle with two small 25 . Let’s go to the backyard and 26 a bottle with water and see if you can discover a 27 to carry it without dropping it.” The little boy soon learned that if he grasped the bottle at the top near the lip with both hands, he could carry it 28 .
The famous scientist remarked that it was at that moment that he knew he didn't need to afraid of making 29 . Instead, he learned that mistakes were just chances for learning and creating something 30 .
Wouldn’t it be great if all parents would follow the way Robert’s mother replied to him?
