阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。
A
People come in all shapes and sizes, colors and races (种族).Some speak differently while others act differently.
My mother is in a wheelchair. I would like to say something about this special woman I call “mommy”.
My mom does what a mom needs to do every day. She picks me up from school, drives me to meetings, cooks dinner, and helps me with my homework. This is just part of what makes her great, though.
She is my best friend and can immediately notice when I am unhappy. She helps me solve problems that my friends do not understand. Mommy makes me laugh when times are tough. I look forward to coming home because I know there is someone there who cares about what I have done.
Mommy has always tried to be like a “normal” mom. But I think my mother is a wonderful woman and she doesn't need to change. She teaches me life lessons that no teacher or friend can. She shows me how to accept everyone for what is inside, rather than what is on the outside.
You may have realized that all the qualities (品质)I admire have nothing to do with what she looks like. Everyone could be the way she is,but most are not.
I want everyone to look beyond the surface and see what is inside others. You may fail to notice someone who is very special like my mom because you cannot accept their outside features.

I saw a really good video last night when I was taking care of the kids. My sister asked me to look after my two nieces for a couple of hours while she went to the doctor's. They're both nine years old—they're twins. I was a bit tired but I know they love watching films,so on my way to the house I went to the video shop and rented a Disney classic. I'd seen it myself 20 years before when I was their age,so I was sure they'd enjoy it,and I was right. My nieces love dogs and as the film is about two dogs which fall in love, they sat in front of the TV for over an hour without moving! It's a complicated love story because one of the dogs lives in the rich part of town and is very carefully looked after and has everything a dog could want, but the other is a street dog who lies on the poor side of town and has nothing. So it's a bit like Romeo and Juliet! But of course it's a Disney film,so there's a happy ending. Everybody who's seen the film always remembers the scene when the two dogs are eating a plate of bone which ends in a kiss!
61.When did the speaker first see the film?
A. Last night. B. At the age of 20.
C. At the age of 9. D. At the age of 29.
62.Why did the speaker think it was a good film for the girls?
A. Because she liked it at their age. B. Because it was a story about animals.
C. Because it was a Disney film. D. Because it was a story about love.
63.What is the video about?
A. Romeo and Juliet. B. A love story between two dogs.
C. Children and dogs. D. The rich and the poor

Sport is full of wonderful moments, but perhaps nothing is as exciting as the finish of the marathon. It is the longest, hardest race of all. The name “ marathon ” comes from a village in Greece. A famous battle was fought there in the year 490 BC. When the Greeks had beaten the Persians, a soldier ran all the way from Marathon to Athens-----more than 40 kilometers ----to tell people the good news. When the modern Olympic Games were started in 1896, the organizers knew this story. The marathon has been a race since then
In the ancient world, the Olympics were held every 4 years for 1,000 years. They were an important part of life. In the modern Games, we try to copy their ideas. The finest sportsmen in the world are collected in one place ---or at least, the finest “amateurs” are. An amateur is someone who does not earn any money from sport. It is true that Olympic athletes do not earn large amounts of money like professional (职业的) sportsmen. But Olympic athletes are often students or teachers of a sport. They have to spend a lot of time training. Their governments pay for their training travel and “pocket money”, because they want them to win. Some people think that this changes the Olympics. They feel that the Games are now a political marathon.
64. The underlined word “marathon” in Paragraph one was first used for a ______________.

Finding summer jobs for teenagers has not always been easy, but now you no longer have to worry about what your kid can do to make their own money. Recently I found some different sites online that offer information about what kids can do. Below is some of that information, along with questions to think about to help you come up with your own ideas.
Ideas for summer work:
●Parks and Recreation Programs (娱乐节目).
●Babysitting (当临时保姆) during the day of school.
●Working part-time at a day care for the summer.
●Car washing.
●Working at local vegetable stands (架).
The easiest way for you to find ways for your child to make money is to think about others’ inconveniences (不方便). Think of things you need done, or would like to have done, and what you would consider paying for these things to get done. Once you have some ideas, you can sit down with your child and talk to them about what they would be interested in doing. Then once you have an idea of what they want to do, you can help them come up with fair prices.
Perhaps you would want to only have your child working with people that you know and trust, or at least you could have your child pick a partner. That way with each of them carrying cell phones, even those without service can call 911, they will be much safer.
