The reason I wanted to see So Young is that it’s Zhao Wei’s directorial debut(处女秀). I guess I didn’t expect much else.

So Young has everything a popular youth film should have: Beautiful young actors, a story about colorful campus life and involved romance, and a strong sense of longing for something past

The leading female character Zheng Wei (Yang Zishan) enrolls at university to stay close to her childhood sweetheart Lin Jing (Han Geng). But when Lin moves abroad to pursue his education, life loses its shine for Zheng. Until she meets the dynamic yet cool Chen Xiaozheng (Mark Chao).

The film also features a bunch of vivid supporting characters: The school beauty who falls in love with a worthless unimportant person, the rich kid who is rejected by his dream girl, and Zheng’s boyish roommate with a huge ego(自我).

Together they put on quite a show under Zhao’s direction and her smooth and aesthetic camera work. You’ll find yourself laughing over their trivial yet funny life on campus in the early 1990s.As expected, the film’s second half takes the audience to years later when the characters have moved on into different corners of society. But the film unexpectedly doesn’t focus on the comedic vibe and turns into a serious discussion about the meaning of life and love. Through the events in their current life and flashbacks of their college years, the film describes how life has changed these characters. And that’s where the film goes wrong.

The emotional change of the characters seems overhasty. If you watch the 2011 youth film You’re the Apple of My Eye, you’ll find that the film’s resonance(共鸣)with the audience accumulates from the beginning ― through details like sexual fantasies and so on ― and peaks in the end. In So Young, the sudden emotional touch with endless splendid lines just isn’t enough to strike our hearts.

Zhao also clearly wanted to give every character a proper ending. But unfortunately she tried a bit too hard, making the film’s second half feel lengthy and unedited.

Even so, given my reasonably low expectations, Zhao still gets full credits for her effort as a first-time director. Without her insightful input and observations, I think the film would have been worse.

Just as time wrinkles the skin but enriches the soul, an ordinary film may as well be the best motivation for Zhao to make better ones in the future.

41. Which of the following is correct according to this passage?

A. This film has everything a popular fiction film should have.

Here are some tips for applying to US colleges.

Why are American universities so expensive?

First of all, I'll say that American education is expensive for Americans but you're getting a high-quality education from some of the best professors in the world with some of the best resources and facilities in the world. American universities have state-of-the-art laboratories, computers, research systems, classrooms and all that is expensive. And also at many U.S. universities, you're learning from leading researchers and people who are at the top of the line in their field so it's also expensive for universities to have those people as professors. So, you're paying for a quality product—that's why it's very expensive.

What kind of financial aid is available?

It really depends on the university what kind of financial aid is available. There are a lot of opportunities out there for international students. There are some universities that have merit-based scholarships. Many have scholarships in general for international students. There are athletic scholarships, scholarships based on a specific talent.

Are school rankings important?

I know that rankings matter to a lot of parents and students  worldwide, but here in the U.S. we pay very little attention to rankings. The rankings that are produced are actually the opinion of several different magazines. The official government doesn't have a universal ranking system. With that said, we know that for many families abroad and outside the United States, rankings are very important. So as a university, we try to make that information available so that students can see our rankings.

How can I prepare for the visa interview?

As long as you are a genuine student, it's likely  that you will receive your visa. When you go for the interview they're looking for generally three things.

One, of course, when you go into that visa interview, you should really know things about the university that you're going to, why you're going there, why you want to study, what you want to study—that's how you show that you're a genuine student.

The second thing that they're looking for is to be sure that you have the finances t o cover your educational program. You'll have to submit the same bank documentation you used in order to get your I-20 to the U.S. Embassy as part of your interview to prove that you are able to pay for your education in the U.S.

The next thing that they're mainly looking for is to be sure that you're a legitimate student and that you're not looking to move to the United States, that you have a reason to return to your home country, prospective employment.

Most of what I really need to know about how to live, and what to do and how to be, I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sandbox at nursery school.

These are the things I learned. Share everything. Play fair. Don’t hit people. Put things back where you found them. Clean up your own mess. Don’t take things that aren’t yours. Say you’re sorry when you hurt somebody. Wash your hands before you eat. Flush. Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you. Live a  balanced life. Learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work some every day.

Take a nap every afternoon. When you go out into the world, watch for traffic, hold hands, and stick together. Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the plastic cup. The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.

Goldfish and hamsters(仓鼠) and white mice and even the little seed in the plastic cup—they all die. So do we.

And then remember the book about Dick and Jane and the first word you learned, the biggest word of all: Look. Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation, ecology and politics and sane living.

Think of what a better world it would be if we all the whole world had cookies and milk about 3 o’clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankets for a nap, or if we had a basic policy in our nations to always put things back where we found them and cleaned up our own messes. And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out into the world, it is better to hold hands and stick together.

D. To recommend kids to raise some animals in their spare time.

Having worked at a 7-Eleven store for two years, I thought I had become successful at what our manager calls “customer relations”. I firmly believed that a friendly smile and an automatic “sir”, “ma’am”, and “thank you” would see me through any situation that might arise, from soothing(安慰,劝慰)impatient or unpleasant people to apologizing for givin g out the wrong change. But the other night an old woman shattered my belief that a glib(非诚恳的)response could smooth over the rough spots of dealing with other human beings.

The moment she entered, the woman presented a sharp contrast to our shiny store with its bright lighting and neatly arranged shelves. Walking as if each step were painful, she slowly pushed open the glass door. She coughed dryly, breathing noisily with each breath. On a forty-degree night, she was wearing only a faded print dress, a thin sweater too small to button, and black slippers with the backs cut out to expose heels. There were no stockings or socks on her blue-veined legs.

After strolling around the store for several minutes, the old woman stopped in front of the rows of canned vegetables. She picked up some corn niblets and stared with a strange intensity at the label. At that point, I decided to be a good employee and asked her if she needed help. As I stood close to her, my smile became harder to maintain; her red-rimmed eyes were partially closed by yellowish crusts; her hands were covered with layer upon layer of dirt, and the unpleasant smell of sweat rose in a thick vaporous cloud from her clothes.

“I need some food,” she muttered(嘟囔)in reply to my bright “Can I help you?”

“Are you looking for corn, ma’am?”

“I need some food,” she repeated. “Any kind.”

“Well, the corn is ninety-five cents,” I said in my most helpful voice. “Or, if you like, we have a special on bologna(大红肠)today.”

“I can’t pay,” she said.

For a second, I was tempted to say, “Take the corn.” But the employee rules flooded into my mind: Remain polite, but do not let customers get the best of you. Let th em know that you are in control. For a moment, I even entertained the idea that this was some sort of test, and that this woman was someone from the head office, testing my loyalty. I responded dutifully, “ I’m sorry, ma’am, but I can’t give away anything for free.”

The old woman’s face collapsed a bit more, if that were possible, and her hands trembled as she put the can back on the shelf. She shuffled(蹒跚)past me toward the door, her torn and dirty clothing barely covering her bent back.

Moments after she left, I rushed out the door with the can of corn, but she was nowhere in sight. For the rest of my shift, the image of the woman kept coming to my mind. I had been young, healthy. She had been old, sick and desperate. Wishing with all my heart that I had acted like a human being rather than a robot, I was saddened to realize how fragile a hold we have on our better instincts(本能,天性).

A. No zuo, no die.

C. Rich and Bitch

D. Are you kidding me?

E. It’s so beautiful that I’m too scared to open it.

F. So the question is……

It’s already 2015, you know. So it’s time to do a year-end summary! According to “Evening Peak News” of Voice of China, Chinese netizens have summed up top 10 network buzzwords(流行词)of 2014, five of which are listed here in no particular order. Dare you say you’ve never said one of them?

61. __________ Have you noticed that so many people claimed themselves to be what the buzzword means in friends circle and Sina weibo. What a poisonous world! The buzzword

originates from a real event: In April, Mr. Liu spent 1760 yuan online buying a health care product. Soon after, he got calls from a stranger who persuade him to buy other matched medicines. In the following four months, Mr. Liu remitted(汇款)a total of 540,000 yuan to the swindler. He said that he had already found himself cheated when he was fooled out of 70,000 yuan. "I just wanted to see how much could they take from me!"

62. __________ The father of the buzzword can be traced back to Linghu Chong, a character in Jin Yong’s “Swordsman”. He satirizes(讥讽)others’ flattering by saying "The moment I see those who flatter(奉承)me would I feel so uncomfortable as if I were drunk.” Then a group of DOTA

players often use this phrase. No matter one’s skill is good or bad, they will say this phrase.

63. __________ The pattern of “contract for fishpond”, which comes from the TV play “Boss & Me” is also on the list. The boss Zhang Han said, “I want the whole world knows that you have contacted(承包)the fishpond,” with Zhao Liying in his arms. “Sb. work so hard” was a very simple word of mouth. After Cao Ge mentioned it many times in Where Are We Going, Dad?, the expression has been widely spread on the Internet. Besides, how can it be excluded(排除) from the top 10 buzzwords of 2014?

64. __________ The buzzword comes from the advertising of Lanxiang Vocational school. In October, Zhang Le, a member of Net Ease comment zone, deliberately commented with a long story in a news thread. At the end of the story there would be a sentence: So the question is: which is the strongest in Excavator Technology? Then after the screenshots of the thread was posted to the microblogging and friends circle, it has been widely reproduced, which makes the ad of

Lanxiang popular again.

65. __________ This phrase comes from the mini-drama "never expected." In one episode, Tang Monk rescued the Monkey King from under Five Elements Mountain and they embarked on a pilgrimage to the West to obtain Buddhist scriptures(佛经). The director who plays the monk speaks out this phrase as a usual self-flattering expression, pretending to be the most handsome. This phrase is often used by ugly and thick boys for self-ridicule.

下面短文中有10处语言错误。请在有错误的地方增加、删除或修改某个单词。

During my second month of nursing school, our professor gives us a pop quiz. I was a careful

student and had easily dealt with the questions until I read the last one: "What is the first name of

the woman who cleans the school?" Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen a cleaning

woman several time. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, and how could I know her name? I

handed out my paper, left the last question blank. Before class ended, one student asked if the

last question would count toward our quiz grade. "Absolute," said the professor. "In your careers

you meet many people. All are significant. They deserve their attention and care, even if all

you do is smile and say 'hello’”. I've never forgotten that lesson. I later learned her name was Dorothy.

第二节:书面表达(满分30分)
