Step2. Pre-reading

Discuss some questions:

(1) Is it important to win in a sports match? Why or why not?

(2)Are the Olympic Games important to our society? Why?

Purpose: Improve the students’ speaking ability and expression ability

Step3.While-reading

1. Fast reading: True or false questions

2. Intensive reading: further understand the text; find more details of the text.

(1)  Choose the correct answers according to the text

(2)  Sum up every paragraph in one sentence

Purpose: improve the students’ reading ability; understand the general idea of each paragraph.

Step4:Post-reading

Retell the text according to the topic sentences.

Purpose: to make sure the students understand the whole text really and master the important point’s .The more important thing is to let them to have the ability of introducing and analyzing expressions.

Step5. Summary and Homework

1. Make a brief summary about the history of the development of the Olympics

2. Do homework so that consolidate what they will have learnt in this lesson.
