Teaching procedures:

Step 1  Leading in

Greetings and free-talk .

Check the homework .

Step 2  Pre-task

SB Page 24 , Groupwork .

Arrange the Ss in small groups .Ask them to look at the pictures and talk about the events .Encourage students to say how historical events affected their lives .

Tell the Ss to help each other with vocabulary they might need and don’t know .

Step 3  While-task

Reading strategy :The title can be helpful for you to understand a text .It is also a good idea to read the first sentence of each paragraph before reading .

Read the title ,which gives an indication of the content of the reading .Think of one question they think might be answered in the reading .

Play the recording , Ss listen .

Ask Ss to read the story out to the class .

Ask Ss to comment on whether their questions in the previewing stage were answered .

Step 4  Post-task

SB Page 25 , 3a .

Read the four events and match them to the correct dates .When finished ,ask Ss to swap their book with a partner for correction .

Homework :

Write about an event that you remember well .Give dates and say why you remember it ,and what you were doing at the time when you heard the news .
