Sample conversation: S1: Do you have a digital camera or a video? S2: yes, I have. S1: How does it work? S2… Step II Listening and pair work In this procedure, students will listen to the passage. Ask them to listen to the conversation and answer “What is happening?”. Play the tape and ask the students to listen carefully. And then answer the questions. Play the tape again and go through answers with the students. Then ask some pairs to make up a conversation with what do you do before you…?, How do you…? They can use any words. Step III Listening and reading In this procedure, students will listen to and read a dialogue, then they will answer some questions and do some exercises to further understand the dialogue. At the same time, they will learn some new words and expressions. Lend “借入”是borrow，其常用句型结构是borrow something from somebody， 例如：The students want to borrow some books from the library. "借出"用lend，即借给别人东西。其常用句型是lend somebody something, 或lend something to somebody. 例如：Could you lend us your dictionary? How does it work? 它如何工作? How does this latch work? 这门闩怎么用? how does this thing work? 这东西是怎么运行的? How does it smell? 这东西的气味怎么样? Connect the recorder to your computer vt. 连接， 把...联系起来 联想， 联系 connect Dalian with the sea 提到大连就想到海 Their families are now connected by marriage. 他们两家现已联姻。 I was again connected to the wrong person. 又给我接错了电话。 Read slowly to make sure the students understand the meaning of each word and write the new words and expressions on the blackboard. Ask the students to repeat. 2. Ask students to listen to the tape recorder and answer the questions. After listening one or two times, ask students to do activity 5 and 6. Step IV Pronunciation and speaking In this procedure, revise the pattern in this unit and make sure students pronounce the sentences properly. Play the tape recorder twice. Give students a few minutes to read the sentences by themselves. Then ask them to work in groups of four. Every student must make up a sentence according to activity 7 Step V Discussion In this procedure, practice some words and expressions in activity 7 by having a discussion.
