书面表达:
Dear Mike,
I am terribly sorry to tell you that I am unable to attend your birthday party next Thursday evening. That is owing to the fact that my mother suddenly fell ill and was taken to the hospital this morning. I have to go there immediately and take care of her. According to the doctor in charge, it will take a few days for her to recover and I can’t leave her alone in hospital.
I really regret that I cannot go to celebrate your birthday personally. I have chosen a small gift for you and will send it to you tomorrow to show my best wishes. May you have a happy birthday. Besides, please give my regards to our friends when you meet them at the party.
Yours
Li Hua

(Text 1)
M: Can I have my ball back, please, Mrs Salter? I kicked it over the wall by mistake!
W: I can't see it in the flowers by the wall, Toby.
M: It went in the tree, I think.
W: I can't see it there. Oh, look. It's on the road.
(Text 2)
W: John, I'll go to the classroom to look for Tony.
M: Wait. He just called and said he would meet us directly at the restaurant.
W: OK. Let's go now.
(Text 3)
M: Congratulations. You were so great in that film.
W: Thank you. But it was nothing. I just did what the director told me to do. Besides, we have a good photographer.
(Text 4)
M: Mary, are you satisfied with your job?
W: Well, I hate it when the customers try on clothes one by one, but buy nothing in the end.
M: Anyway, it's part of your job.
(Text 5)
M: I'm afraid we're lost.
W: What are we supposed to do now? Can we get out of the forest?
M: We have to figure out which way is north. Let me use my watch.
W: Watch? Are you kidding?
(Text 6)
W: Which sport will you do there, Danny? Will you go horse-riding?
M: That's not possible. Mountain bikes are lots of fun but not this time.
W: .What about climbing?
M:That’s what I am looking forward to. Hey! Perhaps you can come too.
W: When are you going? In July or August?
M: I'm staying with my grandparents then so I’m going in June.
W: Oh. Maybe I'll ask my dad tonight.
M: Great.
(Text 7)
M: Can I help you, madam?
W: I think I just have a vegetable salad and a cup of lemon tea.
M: Is that all?
W: Yes. I'm overweight, so I want a low-fat diet. My doctor said that my heart suffers a lot from my weight and I have to change my lifestyle and lose at least 30 pounds to keep it working properly. It may take me about a year to get down to my proper weight with a good amount of exercise.
M: Do you plan not to eat anything but vegetable salad for at least a year?
W: No. I can eat fruit and some beef, but most important, 1 should never eat anything containing sugar or any unhealthy food.
M: Then probably you won't try the delicious seafood served here.
W: That's true.
(Text 8)
M: I would like to speak with the manager.
W: Why? What's your problem?
M: Well, I just picked up a TV at your store yesterday afternoon and when I was taking it out of the car it sort of accidentally fell. It looks OK, but the picture is pretty unclear. Do you think I can have someone look at it or get a replacement?
W: OK. I will talk to the manager about it right now. Please wait a moment.
M: OK. Thank you
W: Well, we can have someone repair it for you, but as it was caused by yourself, I’m afraid you have to pay for half of the repair fee, and we pay the other half.
M: OK. That will be fine. Thank you.
(Text 9)
M: Hello, Helen. You look bad. Is everything OK?
W: Yes, I’m fine, thanks. "I’m just a bit tired this morning, that's all.”
M: Why's that? Did you stay up last night?
W: Not at all, but I had this dream and it woke me up, so I didn't get much sleep. I dreamt of walking through a forest at night. I couldn't see anything.
M: That sounds frightening.
W: In my dream I saw a white light behind some trees. It was a strange light, because it seemed to get bigger and then smaller, as if it was alive. At first I just stood where I was. but then the light seemed to move toward me and I could see something in it, like the face of an old man. I tried to run away, but my feet felt very heavy and I couldn't run fast enough. That's when I woke up. I was shaking all over.
(Text 10)
W: Good afternoon, everyone. Star Books UK is the largest bookstore of health, medicine, education and human life sciences. Many of you must have bought books from it. Now here's a piece of good news from Star Books for you. It has published a new English dictionary recently to help young students study English. And it decided to hold a half-price sale from Monday, March 7th through Friday here. And I’m sorry to say that it can’t be bought in bookstores at this price, because I'm a direct seller of this company. The newly-published English dictionary covers all the words and phrases secondary school students need to know. It also provides clear meaning of the words together with helpful explanations and examples. The price will be cut by fifty percent for these five days. If you want to buy one, you can either tell your teachers or directly buy one in front of the main teaching building.
